The annual Politics and International Relations Faculty dinner is a fantastic way of rounding off the year when the faculty and students can get together and socialise. On the 25th of November over 130 students, staff and alumni gathered at the Agean restaurant on Brunswick St to eat, drink and be merry. Well known Melbourne political comedian Rod Quantock provided the evening’s entertainment.
This was the first time LIRA has run the event and it was a huge success and we hope to make it even better next year. Our thanks to all the staff and students who showed up and made the night so special.
Hey Folks, LIRA is proud to announce the Rod Quantock will be thekeynote speaker for the Annual Politics and International Relations Dinner. You may know Rod from such shows as the “I Eat”, the”Bugger the Polar Bears”, as well as his face appearing as the one and only Capt’n Snooze. His comedy shows have been recognised by many from all sides of politics as revealing and highly amuzing. His addition to the night will be sure to bring much laughter and discussion.
Tickets have gone on sale for the Annual Politics and International Relations Dinner which is to be held on the 25th of November 2009 at The Aegean Restaurant in Fitzroy. All are welcome to attend including friends and family.
Tickets can be purchased online (incurring a small booking fee) from the LIRA website (you will then be re-directed to iwannaticket.com), from any of the Exec members or from the Politics and International Relations Program office. Tickets are $35 for un-waged and $40 for waged.
We are also going to be having stalls next week in the Agora on Monday (12-2pm ) and Thursday 12-3pm. As a last resort, you can purchase tickets on the night (limited availability) (but if you are going to come please buy your tickets, or reserve one and pay on the night so we can know numbers for catering purposes)

The end of year politics dinner, while almost 3 months away, is already being organised. We are hoping to have a great speaker to end what has been a great year for LIRA. Not only will it be great to hear from an intelligent person on matters that are relevant to us, but it is a fantastic time to meet your lecturers tutors and others from the politics program. It will be held at the same venue as last time, the Agean Restaurant in Brunswick St. with a three course meal and drinks included in the price for the night.
The night of Wednesday 24th of November has been set, and the night will start at 7pm. So keep aside that date, encourage your friends and lecturers to come, and keep some money in your pockets for tickets. We are not set on a price – but it will be in the realm of $35 – which is not bad for a night out of food, drink and perhaps decreasingly intelligent conversation!
