Careers Event: Resume Seminar

The Careers office has a number of important upcoming activities that will be very beneficial to you as you enter the workforce. On Thursday the 22nd of April they will be holding a Resume Seminar, giving advice on how to make your resume stand out from the rest. Then on the 27th of April they will be holding an Interview Seminar. This is a great opportunity to get tips on interview techniques. AYAD Information Session Tonight!

AYAD LogoHi LIRA members! Here is a great opportunity for those graduating this year, or who are considering a job in Aid & development. AYAD is a youth initiative of AusAID. Remember you MUST register with AYAD online to go to this event! Click here to register.

Where: State Library of Victoria (cnr. Swanston St and La Trobe St)

AYAD information sessions are a great opportunity to learn more about the AYAD Program and have all your questions answered. They are also an opportunity to speak with a Returned Australian Youth Ambassador for Development (RAYAD) about their experiences.

AYAD information sessions are not a part of the selection process for the AYAD Program (they are not compulsory) but they do provide clear insight and advice on how the Program works and applying to the Program and can help give you the edge in your application and a better understanding on what it means to live and work in a developing country.

    A spokesperson from the Victorian Government will visit La Trobe. He will speak about his experiences and also offer an insight into what it like and how to pursue a career with the Victorian Government.
  • La Trobe Careers office mentor program: Those of you wishing to be mentored by a member of the workforce should consider applying. This program connects students with those in the workforce, providing an invaluable insight and guidance throughout your studies. Career Events

Coming up very soon, and something that is very relevant to all our members are a number of presentations by government representatives. On Monday, 15th of March at 1pm in room PW217, a spokesperson from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) will visit La Trobe. The representative will discuss career pathways at DFAT and also give an insight to students into working for the organisation and what is expected of prospective employees who are considering DFAT as a career pathway.

As well as this, on Tuesday the 23rd of March in MARB LT at 1-2pm a spokesperson from the Victorian Government will visit La Trobe. He too will speak about his experiences and also offer an insight into what it like and how to pursue a career with the Victorian Government. Both presentations are invaluable to students considering diplomacy or a career in governance.

The Graduate Recruitment Expo is the biggest careers event of the year and brings a wide variety of employers to the Bundoora campus keen to meet with next crop of up and coming leaders. In attendance will be representatives from a wide range of prospective employers including a representative from AusAid. This conference is a great opportunity for students at all year levels to speak to prospective employers about employment in the near future or to gain an insight into what is expected from graduates when you complete your studies.
